We want to make sure everyone receives their copy of the Rhossili Annual Community Magazine this year in good time for the Christmas events advertised in it. RCC members have made a commitment to deliver a copy to all residences by December 1st (provided you have a letter box!). With that in mind, we are launching our call for content earlier this year.
This year will be the last magazine produced by Rhossili Community Council as in May 2027 we are being dissolved, along with our 3 neighbouring community councils, and De Gŵyr (South Gower) Community Council will take its place.
That’s a huge change for our community – after 105 years of Rhossili Parish/ Community Council! With that in mind, a core theme of this year’s magazine will be big change and new ventures.
We’d like to invite contributors – residents, locally-based organisations and services – to make change & challenge a focus in their articles, e.g. Lleisiau Gŵyr on competing at the National Eisteddfod (just a plug there for Lleisiau Gŵyr, no-one will notice).
Submission deadline
So, although it may be (hot) summer outside, start thinking about your entries now (put some Christmas music on) and get writing!
We’ve made it simpler this year. The submission deadline for ALL content is:
Friday October 23rd
What to Submit
We welcome a wide range of contributions, such as:
- Brief updates from local organisations, businesses, clubs, or volunteer groups etc.
- Personal reflections or stories about life in Rhossili
- Articles on nature, heritage, or local history
- Notices of upcoming events or initiatives
Please ensure your article is relevant to Rhossili or the wider Gower area and written in a friendly, engaging style, avoiding technical jargon.
All material should be original and written by you.

Guidelines
Please follow these guidelines to help us prepare the magazine smoothly and maintain a consistent standard.
Article format and lengths
Please prepare your article as a Word document (.docx) and adhere to the word limits:
- Standard Reports and Updates: From 300-up to 500 words max
- Invited feature articles: From 500-1,200 words
- Christmas Greetings 45 words max
- Adverts: Quarter, half or whole page
To get an idea of word length, if you look at the 2025 magazine, one page including the fixed-size heading and a ¼-size photo is about 500 words. This translates to about 1 side of A4 using 12pt type with line spacing @1.08 and standard margins (without any image).
Image Guidelines
Good quality images really add interest to the magazine. We welcome portrait and landscape images but portrait is easier because of magazine layout constraints. Please:
- Email the original photo as an attachment only – don’t paste the photo into the email or document
- Don’t use images from Facebook or WhatsApp (they shrink the quality)
- Provide captions (and photographer credits, if not your own images)
- Ensure you have permission from anyone shown in the photo before submission
- Send as many as you want and we will choose.
Submission – by Friday October 23rd
Please put a short title in the email subject header (use ‘Greetings’ for seasonal messages). Also state your name or organisation as you’d like it printed. A quick spellcheck before sending is much appreciated!
