Responsible Finance Officer News

After 20 years of service to the Community Council, Steve Walmsley is stepping down! Steve joined the council in 2004, becoming Vice chair from 2004-2009, and Chair from 2009-2014. He continued as councillor and Responsible Finance Officer until May 2022. If that wasn’t enough, Steve then stayed on as RFO for a further two years and is handing over the RFO baton to Francis Morgan at our July meeting this month. Steve commented that, “It’s been an interesting 20 years and I’ve seen many changes over that time. Stepping away from the council now will be a big change for me too and I wish the council all the best, as it goes from strength to strength.”

Chair Ian Button says, “I want to thank Steve on behalf of Rhossili Community Council for his many years of dedication and service to the community. The success of our community council relies on the goodwill and commitment from people like Steve who are willing to give their time for the benefit of the community. Steve has been an enormous help to us in the last two years and we have all appreciated his guidance. We wish him all the best.”

Francis Morgan, also known as our Reluctant Rhossili Bird Blogger (see https://www.rhossilihwb.wales/category/bird-blog/), moved to Rhossili from London 37 years ago. Before retiring he had a career in Local Government Housing Management and as an IT Project Manager and Business Analyst in the private sector. Francis says, “Now I have extra time on my hands I am looking forward to supporting the Community Council in the role of Responsible Finance Officer.”

A warm welcome to Francis and many thanks for taking on this important role – we look forward to working with him.
