Clerk to the Council
Permanent, part-time – average 20 hours per month
(Hourly rate £14.60 @ SCP 13)
Are you interested in working in local government? Rhossili Community Council is looking for someone who is enthusiastic and community-focussed, to join our small, friendly team. The post is largely home-based but attendance at the monthly Council meetings (evenings) is required. The salary offered is above the substantive NALC range for Clerks; position on the scale depends on qualifications and experience.
What’s involved? As Clerk, you will organise the monthly Council meetings and be responsible for day-to-day organisation and management of RCC’s services, acting within the legislative framework of Local government and the Council’s Standing Orders.
Who is our ideal applicant? Someone who:
- is interested in RCC’s aims and values and how we work to support these
- is keen to serve the needs of everyone living and working in our local community
- is an excellent communicator at all levels using a range of approaches, including surveys, websites and social media
- is dynamic, proactive, assertive, able to work both independently and with others
- has excellent organisational, administrative and IT skills, with a high level of numeracy and attention to detail
- is keen to pursue professional training with the Society for Local Council Clerks (relevant training costs will be covered by the Council).
