If you’ve been following the recent posts on this website and elsewhere about the Local Democracy and Boundaries Commission’s draft proposals for the Swansea Council area, you’ll know that they suggest that our 4 local Community Councils should merge to form one ‘super council’ of Gower South. Their report about this was published in May of this year, and they asked for “all interested parties to consider the Draft Proposals and submit their views on any changes required to create communities that provide for effective and convenient local government.”
The deadline for responses was Wednesday July 10th 2024. To inform the response from Rhossili Community Council, we hosted a meeting open to all Community Councils in Gower and we launched a survey of residents so that we could represent your views.
We submitted our report on time and look forward to hearing the final recommendation towards the end of this year (Winter 2024). Whilst the consultation period has now officially closed, short follow-up responses submitted as soon as possible will be ‘noted’. We are therefore encouraging people to do this, but ask you to let us know if you plan to do so please.
Although all responses submitted will be publicly available in due course, we want to share the response submitted on behalf of the Rhossili community now. Click here or on the image (right), to see our submission to the Boundaries Commission.
The first part of our response sets out the key issues we identified, which also reflect the feedback we have received from other community councils and from you, the Rhossili community. The second part of the response outlines your views expressed through the survey, using your comments to add greater depth and insight to the charts showing the responses to the survey questions.
