At the December meeting, Rhossili Community Council approved the introduction of the (voluntary) role of Biodiversity Officer and we are very pleased that Francis Morgan, our Responsible Finance Officer, agreed to take it on. Francis is a passionate advocate for biodiversity and the environment and has written several bird blogs for our community website. He is a valuable asset to our work in this field.
The role of the Biodiversity Officer is:
- To bring capacity and resilience to biodiversity oversight of the Council’s duties under section 6 of the Environment Act (2016).
- To contribute to the definition, planning, implementation and monitoring of the Council’s Biodiversity Action Plan, alongside the Biodiversity lead councillor.
- To accept delegated authority to represent the Council on biodiversity issues at meetings with external partners and relevant organisations when necessary.
We’d like to thank Francis for his willingness to take on the role of Biodiversity Officer.
